FedEx Opens New Facility in Regional Victoria to Support Local Businesses
FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest transportation companies, announced the opening of its new facility in south eastern Victoria to support the growing express freight demand in the region. The new purpose-built facility spans over 4,987 square metres, is equipped with an advanced automated sortation system that can sort up to 1,400 packages per hour.
The facility, located at Morwell, will support businesses especially small and medium companies in the Gippsland region to access domestic and international markets. Regional Victoria accounts for 21%of small businesses in Victoria and Gippsland is one of the areas that has seen an increase in small businesses in the past year, making the facility a crucial touch point for connecting intrastate, across the country and across borders. The Gippsland area is estimated to grow to $2.66 billion GPR in the near future.
The new facility is strategically located near the highway, providing excellent accessibility for express pick-up and delivery services to homes and businesses in Traralgon, Leongatha, Sale, Morwell, Moe, Maffra, Yarram, Warragul and Drouin regions. It also serves as a domestic and international collection point, providing comprehensive logistic solutions for local businesses.
